I do agree with Fitzgerald. Literature is a platform that everybody can understand each others. When we are in read a book, we can realize we are not the only one that have a feeling about a character because when we read a book, many of us will put ourselves into the characters and to feel like them. Literature gives everybody a chance to know each other and learn from each other.
I think Universal Longing is the desire or opinion after we share with each other. I remember the first time I am having the universal longing with my friends is when we all watch 500 days of summer directed by Marc Webb. We all cried when Summer and Tom sit on the long bench and have the conversation at the very end of the movie. Later on we share our own thoughts and that's how universal longing appears. I would say it is very easy to have longing in literature, as when we read a literature we often substitute ourselves into the characters. Sharing our own thoughts to each other can help us to understand each other and to build up a larger impact of the movie to our memories, for example the novels we studied in school, we talked, we shared the literature. Therefore we got a bigger understanding to the novel and created a conversation between each other.
